In December 2015, while travelling from Karachi to Hyderabad, Ayesha Omar and Azfar Rehman witnessed a horrific car accident. In the incident, both the actors suffered significant injuries and had to spend several days in the hospital.

Ayesha went on Instagram five years after the incident to remember the traumatic memories of the accident and share her appreciation for being alive and well.

“5 years since my car accident,” Ayesha wrote. Over the last few days, I’ve been crying and moaning to myself about having to do things entirely on my own these days, not getting enough sleep and rest, having to juggle so many things over the past 3 weeks while struggling with residual allergies. In the winters, my muscles and target areas (which were impacted by the accident) have become very rigid and painful.

But emotionally, physically and mentally, in contrast to what I went through that evening,” she continued.” “6 p.m. on that dark, broken highway, how I survived those seven hours until I finally reached the hospital, the weeks and months that followed, it all seemed so trivial, so easy, that I would take it any day, with open arms and unlimited gratitude.”

Today, I’m just grateful to be alive, safe and well, surrounded by people who love me, grateful to have made it through that ordeal and many others, and to get to where I am today, particularly this year after the year we’ve all had, with so much anxiety, tension, pain and misery for some people all over the world. I couldn’t be more grateful,” Ayesha continued.

Ayesha and Azfar’s car had been hit by an overtaking truck on the highway just before Hyderabad, according to the details. After another truck bumped from the rear into their vehicle, two collisions followed.

It’s a blessing that Azfar and I came out alive because they had damaged the car completely. At that time, Ayesha had shared that I was immobile and picked up by Azfar and a group of passersby and placed in a police mobile that carried us to a rundown govt clinic in Jamshoro.

Though Azfar had suffered minor head injuries in the crash, Ayesha had broken her collarbone.
