Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Pakistan’s late national poet who died in 1938, is known for his powerful efforts to guide his fellow Muslims to the establishment of a separate Muslim state in British-administered India, an ambition that was eventually realised in the country of Pakistan. A new statue of him was recently installed at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Lahore. The strange creative work has now become the town’s talk and a laughing stock.
The new statue of Iqbal in Lahore has attracted the attention of many people for all the wrong reasons. Someone recently spotted the newly mounted sculpture and examined how the artist had taken the liberty of the subject by creating the sculpture so that it didn’t seem to imitate the man himself remotely. Much like a failed epic!

The tweet draws humour from netizens and derision. In the span of a few hours, it went viral. It seems that Twitterati is barring the provincial authorities with a request that it be replaced as soon as possible.
