When a vehicle with the family of the Federal Ombudsperson for the Protection against Harassment of Women Kashmala Tariq hit a car on Srinagar Highway late on Monday night, four young men were killed and two others injured. She claims that the vehicle that hit the car was not driven by her son.
Kashmala Tariq maintained at a press conference that her son is innocent. Pakistanis, however, are not prepared to believe any word that comes from her mouth and call for stern action.
A government number plate with five vehicles, reportedly part of the VIP motorcade, was one of the vehicles. Islamabad police reported that the former MNA protocol vehicles had broken the traffic signal in the G-11 sector and collided with two vehicles. In the CCTV video, however, it was not clear whether or not the vehicles broke the signal.
Sources have confirmed that Waqas Khan, Kashmala Tariq’s husband, and Azlan Khan’s son were also sitting in one of the vehicles. Police allegedly arrested her husband, while her son and others were fleeing the scene.
The Islamabad police, using Twitter, also confirmed the driver’s arrest. In addition, cars were taken into custody, and the statement further added that “the police will act in accordance with the law and proceed legally against those responsible.”

Prior to the arrest, Tariq’s son was granted bail. In addition, Judge Mohammad Sohail appeared in the Court of Additional Sessions. Prior to his arrest, he granted him bail against security bonds of Rs50,000 until Feb 16.
Kashmala Tariq asserted, “My son was not driving.”
Tariq said her son was not driving the vehicle that hit the car when addressing the media trial as the media’ reports ‘. She and her husband were travelling in a vehicle driven by their driver that crashed into the Mehran car, according to Tariq.

The ombudswoman believed that her son was being driven by another driver in a different car. She requested that the Safe City Project footage be released to prove the innocence of her son. She and her husband were also wounded and the latter was hospitalised, Tariq said.
“The accident was due to the negligence of the drivers of both vehicles, but my family’s trial was initiated by the media,” Tariq said.
My son stayed until 12 midnight on the spot.” She claimed, apart from this, that such a mishap “might have happened to anyone. However, people want to ‘take a dig at her’ only because she’s a politician and ‘Kashmala Tariq’.
